The attention of The Filmjoint has been drawn to two films in the top ten finalists currently streaming on public platforms, which directly contradicts our requirement that submitted films must not be released until after the Premieres. Regrettably, these films have been disqualified for breach of submission guidelines.
Unlike the Awards which have different eligibility criteria, the Premieres strictly consider unreleased films. It is important for filmmakers to thoroughly review and adhere to the submission guidelines before submitting their film. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the disqualification of the film from consideration, even if it has been selected for the top five that will be showcased. “It would be partial to showcase films that are already streaming, after disqualifying some very good films from the first selection stage for the same reason,” said Gbenga Adeoti, Founder of The Filmjoint. “While we make every effort to conduct due diligence on submitted films, including verifying their availability on public platforms, filmmakers need to cooperate with us and uphold the integrity of the submission process as there is little we can do to monitor film releases during submissions and post-submissions.” The Filmjoint is committed to maintaining fairness and transparency in the selection process. Thank you all for your understanding.
